JOURNAL
What happens on the hills, how the harvest is going, where we are with the wine. Short, honest, no marketing.
A look back at Crama Darie's 2024 harvest — a demanding year that brought exceptional grapes and wines to remember.
The year 2024 will remain in the history of Crama Darie as one of the most challenging, yet also the most rewarding. After a mild winter and a spring with unexpected temperatures, the vine demonstrated once again why the unique terroir of Topalu is so special.
The drought that affected the entire region tested our viticultural knowledge. We had to adapt irrigation techniques and monitor each vine with increased attention. Our experience of over 15 years in Dobrogea helped us overcome these difficult conditions.
Contrary to expectations, the water stress concentrated the aromas in the grapes, resulting in musts with remarkable complexity. Our Chardonnay developed intense citrus notes, and Fetească Neagră reached a level of maturity that we rarely encounter.
For this harvest, we experimented with new fermentation techniques. We used indigenous yeasts for some batches, accentuating the unique character of the terroir. We also extended the aging period on lees for white wines, adding complexity and texture.
The wines from the 2024 harvest will reach the market starting next spring. Our cuvée this year promises to be exceptional, and the Ice Chardonnay – if the weather allows – could be the best yet.

We're honored to receive the Special Award for Best Producer Still Wine Romania at Asia Wine Trophy 2025 — a milestone for our family winery in Dobrogea.
We have received wonderful news: Crama Darie has won the Special Award in the Best Producer Still Wine Romania category at Asia Wine Trophy 2025.
This distinction represents one of the most coveted international recognitions, and the fact that we managed to obtain it in a competition with so many participants deeply honors us.
Asia Wine Trophy is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world, organized by DWM (Deutscher Wein Marketing). The international jury evaluates thousands of wines from all over the world, and special awards are given only to producers who demonstrate consistent excellence.
For a family winery in Dobrogea, this recognition confirms that passion, work, and respect for terroir pay off. It is not just a medal – it is a validation of our philosophy: honest wines, made with care, that express the place from which they come.
Thank you to our team, who put their heart into every stage – from vine care to bottling. Thank you to our partners and customers who have supported us over the years. And thank you to the Asia Wine Trophy jury for this honor.
We will continue to do what we do best: wines with character, born on the banks of the Danube.
